Reviewing

Methodology:

I listen to each earphone for about a week and acquire at least 30 hours of listening with various genres such as, rock, rap, electronic, opera, etc. Additionally, I perform direct comparisons against other models. Sources are usually from my own personal phone, as these earphones will act as my daily driver and be exposed to various different environments, but occasionally I also listen from a “proper” HiFi system.

Limitations:

I don’t have access to formal equipment like HATS or other professional audio analyzers, so all reviews are based on my subjective opinion. With that said, these reviews are meant to help collectors make informed decisions on the presentation or tone of a model that they prefer, with additional caveats when applicable. These are just my personal opinions with no scientific basis and should be taken with a grain of salt. I am not an audio engineer or even an audiophile with an abundance of proper equipment to compare; I would take my opinion as applicable to the general population. Moreover I have reviews of some more modern earphones for easier comparison for those who do not have similar vintage earphone models to compare.

Biases:

I will note that I do tend to like more bass and “coloring” of my music. I’m not a fan of completely flat EQ as seen with most HiFi enthusiasts. This will be reflected in my scores and should be considered. What I do not consider in my reviews are price, build, brand, or comfort, purely just from the audio recreation from the best fit I could obtain from the earphone.
